Obituary of Carol Jean Ross

Carol J. Ross 1941-2023

Age 81, of Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center-Marshfield.

There will be no public services scheduled. Carol will be laid to rest when her family gathers for a private committal service.

Carol was born on September 4, 1941, to John and Georgia (McLain) Mazes in Ashland, Wisconsin. She graduated from De Padua High School in Ashland. Carol was employed at various establishments including The Steak Pit in Washburn, Michelle’s Supperclub and The Whiting Hotel both located in Steven’s Point. Working as a mixologist, she mixed drinks but also developed new flavors and brands of cocktails along with studying the history of various drinks.

She was a member of The National Multiple Sclerosis Society also having been diagnosed with MS and battled the effects of MS for a long period of time.

Carol enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, caring for and spending playful time with her neighbors’ dogs and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, always cheering for the Green and Gold.

Carol is survived by her sons: John (Marion) Petras of Greenwood and Dan (Karen) Petras of Ashland; her grandchildren, John (Jennifer) Petras, Daniel (Lindsey) Petras and Joey Petras; her great-grandsons, Connor, Clayton and Michael and her nephew, David Houle along with many other relatives, friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Georgia Mazes; and two sisters, Joyce Houle and Margory Soronen.
