Donald J. Engel, age 60, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at House of The Dove surrounded by his family.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on March 5, 2023 at The Fallback Banquet Hall, 9031 County Rd WW, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Please feel free to bring your pictures and memories with Don.
Don was born on June 1, 1962 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the son of Robert and Elizabeth (Williams) Engel. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1981. Don worked as a roofer for Nick Michels & Sons where he retired after 25 years. He was a member of The United Union of Roofers & Waterproofers Local 96. After his retirement he spent his time ice fishing, chopping wood, cutting trees, working on vehicles, riding his motorcycle, shooting the bull, and hanging out in his shop with his many friends. He was very handy and he enjoyed using his skills in helping others.
Don is survived by his daughter Ashley Engel; parents Robert and Kay (Hackbarth) Engel; brothers Gary, Jeffrey (Josie); sisters, Debora (Alex) Candelario, Connie Rockwell, Brenda (Mike) Gawlik and Vicki (Bob) O’Neil; step brothers Steve (Lauren) Sparks, Shane (Diane) Sparks, and Kerry (Kim) Sparks; stepsisters Shelley (Paul) Muetzel, Sue Sparks, Starr (Joe) Ruesch, Stacy Sparks, Sydney Barbee, Kristen Neidinger, and Tiffany (Mark) Tuttle and longtime girlfriend Lisa Buglass.
He was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Engel, brother James Engel, nephew Gunnar Engel and niece Missy Purdon.
Don’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and volunteers at The House of The Dove in Marshfield for their kindness, compassion, and the comfort they provided to him and his family in his final days.
