Obituary of Robert William Adler
Robert William Adler, “Bob,” age 83, of Marshfield died on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at Care Partners in Stevens Point under the care of Moments Hospice. He had been ill for many years.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 with the Rev. Barry Saylor officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. Inurnment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield.
Robert was born on August 21, 1939, to Raymond M. and Valerie D. (Harry) Adler, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. He attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and graduated from Columbus High School in 1957. After graduating from Marquette University where he earned a Master’s Degree in Chemistry in 1966, he held various positions in electrochemical research and development in Milwaukee, Wausau, Madison, Wisconsin and Freeport, Illinois. He concluded his career at the Institute of Paper Chemistry, where he was Technical Writer and then Editor, in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Robert married Mary Martin in Marshfield. They later divorced. They had one child, Christine E. Adler.
Survivors include one daughter, Christine E. Adler, Marshfield, two brothers: Patrick J. Adler (Lana) of Tomah and James D. Adler (Dorothy) of Marshfield; nephews, Mark (Jennifer) Adler, Tim Adler and Jason (Jennifer) Adler, all of Tomah, Wisconsin; nieces, Lisa (Brad) Clark of Bagley, Wisconsin, Amy (Sean) Morrill of Prior Lake, Minnesota, and Melissa Adler of London, Ontario. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard S. Adler.

The family would like to express gratitude to Dr. Wayne E. Thorne MD for the excellent care Bob received for 32 years. Special appreciation is deserved by Caren Alsides, for the attention given to Bob’s needs during his final years of life. His daughter Christine especially wishes to thank the local Catholic community for their faithful prayers which accompanied Bob during these last years.
