Obituary of Marian Eillen Dommer

Marian E. Dommer 1932-2023

Age 90, of Spencer, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at her home in the Township of Sherman with care provided by St. Croix Hospice.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer with Rev. James Groleau officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in West Spencer Cemetery in the Town of Sherman. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to Nick Lindner, Randy Cook, Roger Cook, Kevin Cook, Jenna Lindner and Jessica Hamus.

Marian was born on June 7, 1932 in Stanley, WI, the daughter of Albert and Myrtle (Miller) Mattheisen. She attended Marshfield Senior High. On October 12, 1968, she was united in marriage to Duane Dommer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer. She was employed as a CNA for the hospital, an assisted living center and group home.

Marian was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spencer.

She enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, camping and gardening. She always took great care with her flowers. With patient and gifted hands, Marian enjoyed creating beautiful one-of-a-kind quilts. Marian was always full of energy and laughter, and she never turned down a chance to be someone’s polka dancing partner. She had a big, bright smile that would light up the room. Her family was her pride and joy.

Those who will cherish her memory include her loving husband, Duane Dommer; her son, Larry (Sharon) Hamus of Spencer; her granddaughters, Jessica (Amanda) Hamus-Bunde of Rochester, MN and Jenna (Nick) Lindner of Neillsville; her brother, Marvin (Delores) Mattheisen of Spencer and her sister, Loretta Cook of Loyal along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Myrtle Mattheisen; her brother, Richard Mattheisen; her sister-in-law, Shirley Mattheisen and her brother-in-law, Russell Cook.
