Obituary of Gary Melvin Mitchell

Gary M. Mitchell 1941-2023

Age 81, of Auburndale, passed away late Monday night, May 1, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center.

Gary was born November 17, 1941, in McGregor, Iowa to Sherman and Mary (Bruckner) Mitchell. He was employed at the former Rollohome in Marshfield for 46 years working as a tradesman for the manufactured home industry. He was married to Carole Witt on June 2, 1962; they later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Mary Kissinger Cline on September 22, 1990, in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Gary was an old car enthusiast and loved to show cars and was the proud owner of a 1988 GTA Classic car. He enjoyed teaching others country line dancing. Gary loved to travel, especially going on cruises in the Caribbean and most of all spending time and making memories with his grandkids and great grandkids.

Those who will cherish his memory include his wife, Mary Mitchell of Auburndale; his children: Todd Mitchell of Vesper, Steve (Julie) Cline of Edgar, Matthew (Joanne) Cline of Mosinee and Joshua Cline of Spencer; his grandkids: Marita Mitchell, Miranda (Ryan) Desko, Caleb Cline, Isaac (Shamaira) Cline, Benjamin Moen, Gillian Cline, Peyton Cline, Devon (Tessa) Cline, Dylan Cline and Dominick Cline and his great-grandkids: Liam, Briarlynn and Bridger along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Mary Mitchell; his son, Scott Mitchell; four sisters, Lois Jean, Sherma, Linda and Glenda and three brothers, Dale, Steve and Kenneth.

To honor Gary’s wishes, his family will gather privately for a time of remembrance and to share their memories of a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

If desired, the family is accepting memorials in Gary’s name for a charity yet to be determined.
