Leonard O. “Bubs" Schreiner
Age 87, of Marshfield passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Golden Living Three Oaks, Marshfield.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer for a time of visitation and sharing memories from 10AM until 2PM. Burial will take place in McMillian Memorial Gardens in Marshfield. His grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Leonard was born December 5, 1926 in Park Falls, Wisconsin to the late Frank and Rose (Bradl) Schreiner. He attended school in Park Falls. In 1944, Leonard “Bubs" enlisted in the United States Merchant Marines. These civilian shipping vessels were vital to the international movement of wartime supplies and personnel which Leonard served upon. During this time of his life, he met his future wife, Lolita “Lolly” Tovar, while she was on a singing engagement in Marshfield, WI. They were joined in marriage on August 11, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa. Sadly, Lolly passed away January 16, 2013.
Leonard “Bubs" worked as a machinist for 33 years at Felker Brothers in Marshfield until his retirement in 1990. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, going up to the cabin and spending time at the Eagle’s Club in Marshfield. Bubs enjoyed time with his grandchildren as well.
Survivors include his children: David Schreiner of Marshfield, Coral (Jerry) Schilling of Malone; Lisa (Arlyn) Meinders of Mason City, IA; Leonard (Lois) Schreiner of Marshfield and Todd (Tammy) Schreiner of Stratford; his grandchildren: Kelsey Schreiner, Cassandra Galsim, Jessica Sommers, Haley Anderson and Logan Schreiner; and one great-grandson, Zayvien. He is further survived by one brother, Lawrence “Popeye” Schreiner of Marshfield.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers including one in infancy and four sisters.
His family is accepting memorials to Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital Children’s Miracle Network.
