Shirley Jean Rose, age 87, residing in the Village of Unity, passed away at home on Sunday, December 10, 2023.
Shirley was born on May 21, 1936, in Athens; daughter of Sidney and Flora (Coon) Dawson. She was raised in Milan where she went to school. Shirley was united in marriage to Aurele Larocque on October 3, 1953. They resided in Abbotsford where they raised their family of 8. Shirley and Aurele later divorced in 1979. She later married Raymond Rose until he passed away in 1994.
Shirley was a hard working, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and the excellent title of great-grandmother to many. She worked for a few years at Post in Owen, WI and then moved to Unity, WI. She worked many years at Rays Market in Unity, WI. She enjoyed her time playing cards with her friends and family. She also loved the outdoors, watching her birds and working in her flower gardens. For the last 10 years her companion was her kitty, Sassy.
Those who will cherish her memory include her children, Linda (Carl) Hardrath, Cindy (Kirk) Erikson, Sandi (Jim) Chingway, Cheryl Edwards, Susie (Kevin) Shelley, Jeremy Larocque and Jesse Larocque; her daughter-in-law, Jodi Larocque; her sisters, Arlene Stahnke and Darlene Jones-Abegglen; her grandchildren, Kelly (Kyle) Uhlig, Erin (Jody) Blasel, DeAnne Larocque, Ben (Anna) Kutil, Matt (Bridget) Kutil, Nicole (Pete) Calhoun, Angela (Chad) Johnson, Jami (Rich) Dunn, Josh Edwards, Shyanne Leonard, Trina Leonard, Adam (Tenille) Shelley, Sierra (Brad) Shinkle, Makenzie Lavin, Chase Larocque, Trista Larocque, Brittany (Mark) Hagen, Mya (Logan) Larocque, Taya Timm and 22 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Flora (Coon) Dawson; her husband, Raymond Rose; her ex-husband, Aurele Larocque; her siblings, Marian, Martin, Raymond, Susie, Elmer, Marcella, Tom, Billy and Winifred; her son, Alan Larocque; her son-in-law, Al Erikson; her grandson, Jason Hardrath; her great-granddaughter, Cierra Hardrath and her many Cocker Spaniel companions.
Shirley’s family would like to extend a huge thank you to St. Croix Hospice (Lori, Molly and Bre) for all the wonderful help and support they have provided over the last week. Also, to Susie and Kevin Shelley for opening their door to have her come in and be in a loving and compassionate environment in her last few days.
At this time there will be no service, but there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
