Obituary of Jean J. Much

Jean J. Much, formerly of Hartford, WI, died December 21, 2014 at Colonial Center in Colby, WI. A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity Lutheran church in Unity on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11AM with a time of visitation from 10AM until time of services. Pastor Al Houts will officiate. Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Spencer is assisting the family. Jean was born June 19, 1920 to John and Barbara (Hope) Florkowski in Lublin, WI. She grew up with her siblings near Stanley, WI. where her family ran a cheese factory. On October 5, 1940 she married Ervin Much. They farmed in the township of Butler, near Thorp, WI where they raised their six children. Around 1961 they moved to Milwaukee, WI with their two youngest children. After Ervin passed away in 1980, Jean relocated to Hartford, WI where she lived until 2014. In July of 2014 she relocated to the Colonial Center in Colby, WI. She liked snowmobiling and was a devoted Green Bay Packer fan. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. As the years passed, she especially loved visiting with her great-grandchildren. She was an avid walker who was still taking mile long walks at 90. She would often invite her great-grandchildren along to accompany her on her walks while on visits. Jean is survived by four sons: James of Milwaukee, Marion (Christa) of Rhinelander, Richard (Kathy) of Greenwood and Thomas (Linda, deceased) of Unity; one daughter Nancy (Keith) Hanson of Oneida; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ervin in 1980 and her daughter Pat and daughter-in-law Linda both in 2012.
