Obituary of Joan Elizabeth Kuyoth

Joan Elizabeth “Joanie” Kuyoth nee Wirkus, 56, of Edgar, WI, passed away on December 25th, 2016, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the Town of Cassel. Rev. Robert Streveler will officiate. Committal services in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Edgar will take place at a later date. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday at the church in the Town of Cassel from 3PM until 7PM and again on Thursday at the church from 10AM until time of services.
Joan was born in Wausau, WI, to Joseph and Dorthy (Meyer) Wirkus on September 8, 1960, as one of a set of twins. She went to high school at Edgar High School and graduated in 1978. She went on to earn a certificate as Radiological Technologist. She worked as a Radiological Technician for a number of years, furthering herself by getting a certificate in CT Scanning and surgical radiologist as well. She was currently enrolled in the Nursing program at NTC and worked part time at Baltus. She enjoyed reading, giving advice, gardening, going to country music concerts, and watching Elvis movies. She received Dean’s List and other academic awards from NTC. She was also an organ and tissue donor.
Joan is survived by her husband, Michael, and daughters Jacquelynn (Jackie) and Michelle. She is also survived by thirteen siblings: Carol (James) Streveler: Brule, Donald (Anna) Wirkus: Chili, John (Barb) Wirkus: Wausau, Patricia (James) Nowak: Stratford, Marjean (James) Bomski: Denmark, Joseph Wirkus: Stratford, Frank (Sandra) Wirkus: Wausau, Charles Wirkus: Las Vegas, Rosemary (Bucky) Bohman: Stratford, Jane (Glen) Dickson: Pittsville, Betty (Dave) Krall: Marshfield, Michael Wirkus: Marshfield, Patrick (Nancy) Wirkus: Richland Center. Sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Wirkus and Gloria Wirkus.
She is also survived by a mother-in-law Mary Kuyoth, sisters-in-law Marge (Bob) Ostrowski Stevens Point, Alvina (Bruce) Frahm Minnesota, and Sue Wilson Missouri. She additionally is survived and was very loved by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Sharon and two brothers, Robert and James (Jimmy) Wirkus and her father-in-law Jack Kuyoth.
