Aunt Ruth. Ruth Joswiak lived her life on Earth for God. She was an exceptional human being, my Mom’s dear, dear friend, and my honorary Mom and mentor. I will always love her very, very much. She was treasured family to me and the entire Roberts group.
There are so many tremendous stories of Aunt Ruth serving people and by extension serving God, yet she was so unassuming about her achievements. She was the archetypal Mom, leader and Nurse. Whenever I think of nurses, Aunt Ruth will always be in my mind the best ever. I admire and love her dearly.
Just this past Sunday (10/01/2023), Virginia and I were in Milwaukee to attend a ceremony in honor of Marquette University Nursing Students. Our twenty-three year-old daughter Morgan, who is pursuing her MSN degree and will test for the role of RN in coming months, was honored with her classmates at this event. Held in an historic, two-centuries old, beautiful beyond description cathedral, replete with incredible stained-glass windows, I know that Aunt Ruth was there, looking down from Heaven upon Morgan. I could powerfully feel Aunt Ruth’s presence, and my heart was full. A tear or two snuck down my face.
Stories of Aunt Ruth are numerous—I cannot begin to recount my happy memories of all of these adventures here. She, along with her soulmate of 68 years, Uncle John, helped raise me, providing counsel which will stay for me for a lifetime.
I am incredibly grateful to God that He has brought Aunt Ruth and Uncle John together again. I will always hear her voice and remember her hugs.
I love you Aunt Ruth—forever. And, I love all the Joswiaks—including Scott, Jill, Jody and Jamie—as family.
