Obituary of Ruth Ann Joswiak

Ruth A. Joswiak, age 90, died peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023 while residing at Stoney River Assisted Living Center in Marshfield, WI.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield with Rev. Douglas Robertson officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from 10 AM until time of services.
Ruth was born on December 15, 1932 in Niagara, WI to Fred and Gertrude Gronert. She graduated from Niagara High School and earned her nursing degree from St. Mary’s Nursing School. Ruth later earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing administration and became the dialysis unit nurse manager at Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, WI.
On November 27, 1954, she was united in marriage to John Joswiak. They made their home in Lake Tomahawk, WI. Ruth and John were happily married for 68 years before his death.
Ruth was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. In retirement she volunteered at Howard Young Medical Center. She enjoyed knitting gifts for others, walking, singing and playing the piano, being on the lake and playing cards with family and friends.
Ruth and John were longtime members of Holy Family Catholic Parish in Woodruff, WI.
Survivors include her children, Scott (Shirley) Joswiak of Lake Tomahawk, Jill (Larry) Mielke of Madison, Jody Frazier of Rockford, IL and Jamy (Marty) Yohn of Marshfield; her grandchildren, Tracy (Sean) Bruggink, Tina (Paul) Molinaro, Tenley Banik, Steven (Norah Liang) Banik, Michael (Kimberly) Yohn and MJ Yohn; her six great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law Raymond (Alvina) Joswiak of Edgar and Wilbert Bantes of Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, John, John’s siblings, Alfred (Genevieve) Joswiak, Rose Ann Bantes, and Ruth’s sister Patricia (Charles) Schiefelbein and nephew, Michael Joswiak.
Memorial gifts are requested for: Lakeland Retirement Foundation, P.O. Box 1815, Woodruff, WI 54568. Please request “Building Fund” in memo, to be used for a new senior center, a place John and Ruth attended previously in their retirement years.
